Old State Park ramp

Discussion in 'Northeast Ohio Fishing Reports' started by bassjerk, Apr 22, 2004.

  1. What's up with the ramps at that place? What a safety hazard! I heard
that they got the money to fix them 2 years ago. Does anybody know
anything about that? What about the restrooms!!!!! YUK!!!!!

might help if ya listed what body of water your referring to........... :D

but my guess is Portage lakes...... I dont use the old state park ramps (if i can help it) just because of the reasons you listed... no lighting either (if i remember right). Fun trying to find those slabs in pitch black and fog... whatta joke!

Oh...and welcome to the forums :)

those rest rooms over there are nasty, frogs and insect
infested :p but those ramps get busy, man.those have
to be(with the exception of the new state park ramp)
the busiest ramps in the all of the portage lakes.
and not to mention there is no room to really move
when its busy.complete bottle neck over there.

Last year they were out there taking core samples. They have the money and know what they want to do, but they haven't decided when they want to do it.

  5. I wish they get busy; that's a sin for a state park to be like that.

Take a look around you and many of the state parks are going to hell in a handbasket.
Remember that in November. Both Dems and Reps are responsible.

  7. I think it was the launching docks at new (portage lakes) state park that scratched the helll out of my new boat last year with all the big bolts sticking out of rotted lumber.

I know my club has a night tourny out there and you need to get a permit from the state to hold a tourny in a state park. There is no restrictions on the water except no wake even in the speed zones. I've pulled my boat out of the water at 3am with a ranger in the parking lot at the old ramp and he didn't say a word to me. I think they just don't want people screwing around. You know teens in the back seat or any drug or illegal problems so they keep everyone without a boat out.

I for one have fished into the we hours of the morning on the ice. Rainger drives through every once and a while and has never got out of the truck and said a word. Might have been to cold though.
