Over 90% of muskie are released as soon as they are caught. They are not brought back to the dock or put into live wells. The ODNR has to have a fish to count and measure they will not take the word of a fisherman about a fish they can not verify. This makes it very hard for them to do surveys on muskie.

maybe the electro shock netting they do does not pertain to creel surveys??

  5. electro shocking and creels are totally different, electroshocking is used to sample the population of a given fish, the total population, or to find certain species. creels are used to measure what fish are targeted the most, kept the most, the avg. size of a kept fish, where the anglers are coming from ect. the fact that muskies are not showing up at all in creels is a little surprising but understandable because so few are kept compared to the eyes, crappies and everything else
