OBX Stripers

Discussion in 'Fishing Reports - Out of State' started by keepinitreel, Jan 2, 2005.

  1. Just got back.

I brought my newly purchased boat down to test it in the ocean. Bought a Logic center console 2001 21' 150 HP . The Oregon Inlet was tough at times. The waves smacked the boat from all directions.
We limited out on stripers Wednesday and Thursday with the largest one weighing in at only 20#. They were much larger last year.

My Dad and I came down with the flu Friday. We tried to rest up for Saturday and unfortunately, the boat also caught a virus because the fuel filter went bad!! It would not start. 70 degrees, no wind, and everyone came out with a limit! Darn it!

I'll try to post pics later.

  2. Great job! Sorry about your illness. I bet that made the drive home miserable! What did you catch your fish on?

  3. We caught the fish trolling umbrellas with plastic shads and bucktails with 28-32 oz sinkers.

We also casted bucktails and spoons when we found a school of them.

    Lots of fun
