Nissan outboards

Discussion in 'Boats and Motors' started by tech187, Jun 16, 2005.

  1. Anybody have any experiance with Nissan outboards? Especially their new 9.8hp 4 stroke. I have did a lot of searching on the web and the Nissan seems like a lot of motor for the money and it is lighter than most other 4 strokes. Thanks for any info.
  2. Just bought as 5hp 4 stoke Nissan, Cabellas, no Ohio State tax.
10 hours break in time a bit lengthy. But trolling counts.
So far (8 hours use) I would rate it very good. I do like the remote gas tank, don't need to mix with oil.
Started out a bit noisy but now much better. Resthaven fishermen thought I was running electric.
I like pull start idea in case main motor battery runs dead on Erie. Starts 1 or 2 pulls if everything is set up correctly (gas vent open, squeeze pumped, neutral, shut off engaged, etc). Got the extended shaft.
Light weight important to the old guy here.

    resthaven is electric only?????
  4. It says electric on the website.
But I called ODNR. 5HP gasoline is O.K. now on #8.
A sign at the launch says so also.

  5. Thanks for the response.
