New Steelhead Rod for the rivers?

    If those are the choices then I would say go with the 9'6". You will be able to control the drift better not to mention handle the fish better on lighter line. Good luck this season.

  3. If you are planning on using the rod exclusively for Fall/Winter/Spring Steelhead fishing, you would be wise in looking at something longer. I would select a rod in the 11 to 12 foot range.
  4. I agree with Shortdrift. There are a lot of 10'6" rods out there. I would go with something lighter (more noodle rod like) than those also.

    Another alternative for a few more bucks, but over a hundred less than a somewhat comprable Loomis. I prefer this model to the wild river since it has a bit more power (backbone) than the lighter and whippier wild river.
