Thinking of hitting Nettle lake for crappie for the first time this year. Anyone been there yet? Doing any good?

  2. Might be a bit early yet but you might catch some. I threw a beetle spin around there tonight and got very few but did not try minnows yet.

I did end up fishing Nettle on Saturday. Got out there and fished from 9:00 to 2:00 and easily boated over 100 crappie. Good right.........if you just wanted to catch fish, it was great, if you wanted to fill the freezer, not so good. I only keep 7 fish, the rest were 5-7 inchers (even the ones I keep weren't over 9)

The small females were full of eggs and ready to let go. All fish came from Lilly pads on the South end of the lake.

  4. They are mostly small there. I never caught any big ones anyway. Where you using minnows? Bluegills where biting pretty good sun. also but not many keepers.

I was using minnows and jigs. Most fish came on minnows.
