Had my boat out today for the first time this year. Tested in driveway, perfect. Got to the lake, fired up instantly. Ran it at 2000 rpm for half hour or so in a no-wake zone. Hit full throttle (5600-6000 rpm)boat got on plain, held 5600 rpm for 10 to 15 secs. than bogged to about 4600 rpm and held for a minute then slowly decended from there. put in neutral for a minute, hit full throttle again real smooth went to 5600 ,got the boat on plain, and did the exact same thing. No backfiring or poping at all. Ran fine the rest of the day at 2-3000 rpm.
My quess is fuel of corse. Not shure if you can tell if a primmer ball went bad. Also I thought you could see a visible rubber "o" ring on the female connection to the engine, dont see one now.
Any help would be appreciated.
By the way, its a 2005 Mercury 40hp four stroke EFI.
Thanks

Forgot one thing, the sight glass that houses the filter element only has about a quarter inch or less of fuel in it while the engine trying to get to full throttle. Not shure if it should be full. Maybe someone knows?
