motor problem

  1. my son and i went fishing sat when we were coming in he got to the no wake zone he went to idle and the motor stopped.we went in with the trolling motor .we check it out when we got in and had no spark at the plugs .it is a 1987 johnson 9.9 ,checked fuse it was ok.could use help if anyone can help. thanks :( :( :(

    First thing to check is that the kill switch hasn't been activated. It will cause no spark. Other than that it could be coils, powerpack, stator, trigger.

    check at www.iboats.com go to outboard repair and the F.A.Q. to troubleshoot the problem. iboats .com has a lot of good info for boat/motor repair
