I had a few hours to kill yesterday afternoon, so I drove out to Lake Snowden with the 3wt hoping to find some bluegills to torment. It wasn't hard to find them, it was hard dealing with the wind! I found some productive spots inside the weedline where I could wade to about knee deep and cast to pockets. I caught a ton of gills, most of them real brightly colored. Hot rig was a #12 para hopper with a 15" dropper and a #14 hare's ear nymph, unweighted. A few fish hit the hopper, but almost all action was on the nymph. I caught some on an old prince on the dropper, but when that fly was destroyed I went to the hare's ear.
