AEP ponds Monday 3/28: Rain rain and more rain. Our first trip to the AEP ponds.Started north of campsiteG. Followed a trail to a shallow muddy pond. Came back to the truck and went 1/4 mile north to a pulloff on the left.Followed a trail down to a pond with some stickups .Had one bite on a green tube. Went down over the hill and fished 2 more ponds. No action.....just rain.Came back up to the road and while walking to the truck it poured.Afterwards we pretty much scouted the area while it continued to rain.Saw no other fishermen. The lady at the store in Reinersville said that it had been slow. She also told us that a few big bass were caught threw the ice this past winter.Said she weighed 2 8's and a 6 lber. I got a new map at the store. Glad I did for 2 reasons. One the map has #' on the ponds, the old map that I have did not. ALSO.. I see the the heart of the AEP lands has been split by a lease to a sportsmans club! This was quite a disappointment to myself to see a large portion of these lands now off limits to the public. There are still a lot of ponds but it makes this area less attractive to me being that I have a hour 45 minute drive. I don't know how long this has been like this but if your map was as old as mine you need to get a new one.Not a good day but hey I wasn't working! I also had a tire going flat while in a Wendy's parking lot. Put in some fix a flat and then some air. I heard it coming out. Good thing I was in Cadiz at the time. A tire shop repaired it for me...holding so far. I've only got 3000 miles on my new truck! I might go again next week.I'll leave a repoprt if I do.Hopefully it will have a positive ending.
