Hey guys,Im coming down from Mi and putting in at Turtle Creek,heading out east of West Sister.What are the rules of the Military exercise area.Looking at a chart,a straight shot takes me through the west part of it.Are we allowed in this area?Or do I have to go around it?Ive never fished this area before.Thanks Bruce

Call Camp Perry Range Control on channel 16 i believe and see if they are firing.

If you are coming out of Turtle and heading east of W. Sister you will be going through the outer range and I can't remember the last time the outer range was closed. Normally they close the inner range and, as mentioned, you can find out what is closed by calling Range Control. There is also a safety zone in front of Davis Besse that extends a mile out from shore, it is marked by white bouys and you cannot enter that zone. If you go out there you will probably catch a lot of fish, walleyes or perch or both.
