mildew killer

Discussion in 'Boats and Motors' started by newfisher, Aug 31, 2005.

  1. Do any of you know of a good cleaner that will kill mold and mildew in my boat without bleacjing or staining? I clean it and it's gone, but in a couple days it comes back.

  2. Febreeze!!I think that is how it is spelled.

  3. No kidding!! we use this at home on the frniture, in the cars and what not I never knew it would kill mildew. Does it help prevent it from coming back?
    thanks

It's the ethanol in Fabreeze that would do the killing but the level is only about 10% so I have a hard time believing it would work.

Go to Ace and buy some denatured ethanol. Test on a small area to make sure it doesn't bleed your colors. You may need to dilute it with about 30-40% water. Barcardi 151 rum will also work but the watercraft officer may give you a little trouble.

  6. how bout' I try the febreeze, drink the bacardi and if the febreeze doesn't work i'll forget about it after the bacardi. :D
