Metzgers Marsh

Discussion in 'Northwest Ohio Fishing Reports' started by Daduru, Jul 19, 2004.

  1. Carried a raft down to metzger and tried minnows and crankbaits. Traveled over about 1/3 of the remaining water there, and only about 1-3 feet of water, was never deeper. Weeds everywhere, made for shitting fishing. If i had some corn I could have slaughtered carp jumping all around me. Fished the pier for 30 minutes caught some sheephead, nothing exciting. If you looking to see a bald eagle or two, there was a massive one I got a pretty good look at.

I was out at MM about 3 weeks ago using tubes with JimmyP in a canoe. We got a couple of dogfish and a couple of largemouth. We saw about a dozen bald eagles, 4 white pelican, and cliff swallows nesting under the water gate. I found thier nests are quite interesting. We stopped to fish from the bank and had 9ft reeds behind us. All within about 7 seconds, I heard a noise that sounded like a vacuum cleaner being turned on and off repeatedly getting louder and louder. I looked up and a baldie flew about 10 ft. over my head.
