I have been reading good things about the cat fishing in the Maumee lately. My wife loves to fish for catfish, and I am thinking of making a trip up there to try to get into some channel cat and/or flathead action. I only started fishing the river this year. The only area I am remotely familiar with is the area around Bluegrass Island and up to Jerome Road. Are there deep enough pools in this area to provide some good action? If not, any tips on other locations would be appreciated to help shorten the learning curve a bit.

One night about 10 years ago, a friend and I caught 62 cats at Buttonwood...right where the road ends. It was pitch black out, and they were hitting the bait as soon as it hits the water. The kicker is, his reel malfunctioned and we took turns casting one rod.
