It seems that we are in desperate need of a bait shop in the Marietta, Williamstown area of Ohio. Does anyone know of one that I have missed? If we need minnows or live bait it is a trip 20 miles up river. $4.00/gallon gas makes minnows rather expensive for an afternoon out with son. Might consider keeping some in tank of my own but have never tried to keep minnies alive for more than a day or two. Any info about this would also be greatly appreciated. :)

Most people use Backwater baits just south of Newport on Ohio 7. There is one on old Waverly Pike in Williamstown - turn left just past Divincis in Williamstown, but I've never tried it. There used to be one on the west side just over the old railroad bridge, but I'm not sure it is open anymore. You are right, it would be a great opportunity for a retiree looking for some extra income. Hoff's on 7th street in Marietta did a great business for years. You would just need to be somebody that liked to get up early in the morning!
