Maine trip

  1. Saco and Casco bays have lots of small stripers in them. I caught fish on the fly, on sand worms, and on mackeral. Most of the fish were less than 20" long, but I saw a group of 5 stripers in the 40" class while fly fishing....unfortunately, they also saw me! Smallmouth bass fishing in the Kennebec River was fabulous, as usual. I caught more flounder off the beach than usual while bait-fishing for stripers. The fishing should improve once the temperature starts to cool.

This is the first year i haven't been up to maine for summer striper fishing. That is fun fishin up there in the summer from the surf. Night fishing can be good too but you have to deal with the skates and mud crabs, not to mention those mosquitos the size of pigeons!!!!! Two years ago i was able to land a nice 40incher at the mouth of the sacco, fishing cut mackerel. You're making me miss it more than i already do!!
