Low Water On The Scioto

Discussion in 'Central Ohio Fishing Reports' started by LoweBoat, Nov 30, 2008.

  1. Does anyone know why the water is so low in the Scioto river?
we drove past the Oshay reservoir yesterday along 257. I couldn't believe how low the water level is. I know there are no dams or gates from the Oshay to the headwaters of the Scioto so it's not a matter of gates being shut.

The oshay is still low because of a general lack of rain this year. Also, in order to keep the scioto flowing, they have to let water out of griggs, which is fed by oshay so the water has to come from there too, and there's not enough coming to fill it up :(

Sucks for oshay, good fishery. However, now's a good time to walk out on the rocks and drag a tube!
