Lost Forever?

Discussion in 'Tackle Talk' started by spinning, Jul 25, 2005.

  1. Took my grandpa fishing this past Sunday at the Huron Pier.

:B took my new fishing pole right into the lake :(

My best friend helped me pick out that rod and reel.

We caught my first crappie, catfish, small mouth, sheep head, and white bass with that pole.

I learned how to cast my new Rapala lures with it and even trolled on Lake Erie with it for the first time ever.

Waded Old Walnut for the first time with it last week.

A moment of silence for my broken heart.......

  2. R.I.P - Guide Series!!!!

Im allowed to laugh I helped pick the rod!

I shouldve insisted on a Spinning Rod PFD too!

So that everyone on the site knows. Spinning rested her newest/nicest rod on the pier to hold her snoopy rod!!!

It gets better...The first one she bought, she broke in the window of her jeep not 10 minutes after leaving Gander Mtn.! (The only way she had it at Huron is b/c Gander replaced it for her at no cost. They must have known they had more sales on the way!)

Ive lost one like that too!

Its part of it...The true test is your going back to get another!

Congrats your on your way! :p

  3. ROFL.....you are a funny guy!!!

Next time I'm just going to tie a rope from the pole to my ankle!

Seriously.....what's the best way to set your pole down to keep this from happening??

    Anybody?

been there done that, havent done it again... :) but i have had a few HUGE rock fish take my bait...

as for sitting the rod down, prop em up securley, maybe keep your foot on it or something. they also have rod holders for on land.

i have a garcia spinning reel that i have not used in a year or so, its yours if you want it. all you need is a rod for it

  6. Thanks for the offer littleking.....but Tommybouy hooked me up with a good loaner already... :)

I am going to check into that rod holder that you're referring to though.

My heart can only take this kind of tragedy once!

It would have hurt LESS if I had just thrown the cash into the lake!!!

I think I would of went in after it too, I have had to save my friends Pole one time doing that at the River, I caught the Big Carp to that took his pole in too. :D One for me , LOL.

Kinda funny story, But I can feel your loss in the Pole, I know how Id feel If I ever lost one of my Poles. :(

They do make Pole Floats too, They attach at the Base of your Pole & it will never sink once properly put on. Its a good investment for some who fish out of a Canoe too. Canoe's will tip easy so alot of us use them while on the river just in case.

My Bank Pole Holder's are Homemade 1/4 inch round steel with a V at the top, They are Primed & Painted to resist the weather & other elements. Good luck in your quest to find a suitable Pole & Holder. ;)

    *heavy sigh*

Maybe I should look into one of those spinning rod PFD's like Tommybouy suggested.

That would be funny to watch, But not funny in a way. You 2 are funny though :D

I do use a Piece of foam myself for fishing in the Canoe, Its cheap at LS here in town & I just put it on before I load up, it works like a Champ.

If you are going to set your rod down, open the bail, or if you need tension, loosen the drag to the point that it will let line out before the fish drags your set up into the water. The drag is kinda like a bait runner, in that you will hear the drag clicking when a fish is running with the bait. To set the hook, simply hold onto the spool for the hookset, then tighten the drag down...just not too much!

  18. Watching a buddy's rod skip across the water: Priceless

    :p

  20. What the H%JJ do you mean you couldnt take losing yours again????

What does that mean for my rig?

    UUUUUUUUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got an idea...HOW ABOUT NEVER LETTING MY ROD OUT OF YOUR SIGHT GOOBER!

If you lose my rod to a fish ... you will be swimming your @$$ off..I guarantee! (Like its an option!) Little King.I insist she uses your reel..LOL!!!

BTW..I thought I saw a walleye of Huron Pier picking its teeth with a rod! Brown in color, silver reel, must have been a Gander Mountain Guide Series!

    LOL!

Only joking...Dont return my rod & reel until it has a premanent bend in it! FISH ON GIRLFRIEND!!!!!!!!
