Looking for tips on wading 4 mile creek

Discussion in 'Southwest Ohio Fishing Reports' started by Onion, May 24, 2004.

  1. Well after a few 70 hour weeks I think I will take Thurs. and Fri. off and try and catch some smallies. I have never fished 4 mile creek near Oxford but I have heard some great things, problem is I have never wade fished a creek.

Can anyone offer some information about good entry points, what to look for and lure choices?

  2. I have fished below the Acton Lake spillway as well as near the covered bridge near oxford. I have caught largemouth bass near the spillway, and smallmouth near the bridge. I found that small rapalas or rebel craws seem to be the best.

4 mile is really easy to wade if there hasnt been any rain for a while, but if it has rained dont try it. it get high and the current is pretty strong in places. best places to wade is from the spillway down to behind the horse barn by the entrance to oxford on 73. just about anykind of a crank bait works really well in there. gl and hope to see some good c&r pics
