I was on vacation this week in west central Minnesota about an hour south east of Fargo, North Dakota. The wife and I stayed in a friend's lake house for the week. They were gracious enough to let us stay for free! We were able to drive 14 hours all the way with kayaks on top of the car with no issues. Chicago onward was kind of a pain though. Chicago traffic is horrible. I never want to visit that city lol. We drove through Wisconsin during a bad storm in the evening. That state is already dark enough as it is with no highway lights. Kinda creepy driving through Wisconsin at night. I was able to get my kayak out every morning and do a little fishing this week. Most of my fish the first 4 days came on a top water whopper plopper. Here's some pics and yes I caught a few bluegill on top water... My last day on the water I decided to switch it up a bit since the lake was heating up in temperature. Water temp was 76 most of the week and almost 80 by the end of the week. I started learning how to use my Humminbird helix 5 and was marking some fish in deeper water. Ended up catching quite a bit in deep water and it was probably my best day on the water this week. This vacation was a blast. Everything from fishing, to pontooning to jet ski to shooting guns. It was a good one.
