Lip wire question

  1. I did a search and didn't quite find what I was looking for, or else I didn't quite put in the right word combination.... I found a thread that describes how to make the holes in the lip and to bend the lip wire. My question is, when the assembly is slid in to place, is the lip wire simply cut long enough that it slides up into a drilled hole and then epoxied in place? Or are these assemblies typically thru wired and the lip is an integral part of the thru wire?
  2. Plugman, I extend the wire about an inch longer than the depth of the lip slot. I will turn the wire at the end at times like a little "J". I take a tooth pick and plunge the epoxy into the hole a couple of times. I them the slide the lip and wire in together. I will also dip the wire end in epoxy before inserting the lure body. Epoxy will run a little but I just wipe it off with my finger.
