I was talking with my neighbor about getting our 2005 licenses. He told me that since I was on disability now, I fell into the same class as seniors-no charge for a fishing license. I hadn't heard that before. Anyone know if it's true?

That doesn't apply to you. Sorry. Go to the ODNR's web site and check licenses and it spells it out. I believe it only applys if you need assistance in fishing or are a vetern on full disability. I retired on full disability from the Fire Department and it doesn't cover me.

    Thanks, Dale.
It didn't sound right to me. I think you need to clarify that, though. I am a Veteran and disabled. But only 20% service connected. You probably meant someone with a 100% service connected disability.
    Thanks for the reply,

It's a misconception that senior citizens get free licenses.
If you're under 68 yrs old you still have to purchase a license.
If you were not born before the cutoff date you'll never get a free license in Ohio unless something changes.

    FYI:
    Free Licenses

Qualified residents born on or before December 31, 1937 should apply for a free license at their nearest license vendor. All others should obtain an application from their local wildlife district office or by calling 1-800-WILDLIFE (1-800-945-3543).

The following Ohio residents are eligible for a free license:

Persons born on or before December 31, 1937
Persons who are physically disabled and require the assistance of another person to fish
Residents of state and county institutions
Holders of “Veteran” license plates displaying the international wheelchair symbol
Certain veterans who are permanently disabled
    Former prisoners of war

Thanks Hook. That's explains it clearly. I don't agree with the SC stuff but who knows why that changed.
