2007 Evinrude E TEC - Starcraft Marine LEWT prepares for third event of the year

The Western Basin Sportfishing Association (WBSA) will hold the third tournament of the 2007 Lake Erie Walleye Trail (LEWT) along with title sponsors Starcraft Marine and Evinrude E TEC on Saturday, June 16th at the Sandusky City Boat Ramp. With less then a week to go before the event there are just a couple of spots left open.

The teams will take off from the Sandusky Ramp at 7 AM and have to be back by 3 PM for the weigh in. The public is invited to join the participants for the weigh in as this can be a great opportunity to ask questions and learn some of the fine points of walleye fishing from the tournament anglers. At the first event of the year we awarded the Gander Mountain Early Bird Award and this event will mark the second time we will present the Navionics “Just Missed the Spot” award to the first team finishing just out of the money. This will be a certificate redeemable for a Premium Navionics map chip valued at $199.

The previous event held at Lakevue Marina gave us some exceptional catches and a very tight race for the win. Tournament Director Matt Davis commented “The fishing right now is just unbelievable. Guys are catching 40 or more fish daily and the key will be to see who can dial in the big fish to set themselves apart from the rest of the field. I think the big weights from last month surprised some people so it should be interesting to see what Saturday brings.”

“We are pleased to announce that once again this year we will have West Marine supplying donuts and coffee in the morning for the participants and refreshments in the afternoon at the weigh in” remarked Marc Hudson, WBSA President. “Our generous sponsors, listed below, have donated products so all entrants not cashing a check will go home with a nice prize.”

The WBSA is a Social based Club for fishermen and women that fish in the Western Basin of Lake Erie and its tributaries. Membership is open to all fisher people no matter what their location. Our goal is to present information in a manner that will help sustain and improve fishing in one of the greatest inland sport fisheries in the world. Scientific information, fishing techniques, locations and presentations will be presented at our monthly meetings by expert and knowledgeable speakers and tournament anglers in our group. These anglers are very open with techniques and methods and will help any member that is trying to learn new methods

There are spots available for the remaining LEWT events in 2007.
