I just ran across this web page about folks in Ky are also concerned about protecting the Catfish along theOhio River. It reflects what we have seen here in the Markland Pool. They do offer a couple links if anyone wants to check them out about a petition the KDNR.

I found it to be very interesting reading and that we at NOT alone in this fight.

Only when we really unite on this issue and start applying pressure to the right people are things going to change,we are already seeing the affects commercial fishing has had, this is not a figment of our imagination catfish of all species are getting harder and harder to catch and sizes are getting noticeably smaller if we don't stand together soon it will take years to rebuild these fisheries. Look at was accomplished with dam regulations when the people applied pressure! I thinks it time we as fisherman say no more raping our waters for profit, they belong to all of us and its up to us to be responsible stewards. Jmo

KDNR has been surveying catfish populations with a focus on trophy fish on the Ohio and will done this fall. Be on the lookout for when they publish their findings. Kentucky regs going forward will depend on their data from this study.
