Great report!(many more similar reports will now follow)! Been touting that area during July/August for years, few ever try it! Seems "way too far" straight out into the lake, but the quality of fish was always much better, similar to late summer to mid-fall Eastern Basin(nearer to shore), deep water fishing, and shorter drive to launch for most of us! All the big L Erie walleye do not "migrate" East(many just go north following bait schools that are following the cooler, deeper water)! The abundance of steelies is definitely a bonus! And yes, spoons rule!
Word of caution: On a day like yesterday(and with the current "extended" forecast!), a "huge" Erie boat is not required! BUT, this is "exceptional" weather for Erie, and on more normal "Erie days" definitely is not for the "inexperienced, average Joe"! It is a long way out there(and back!), be careful/safe, plan thoroughly-know the limitations of yourself, and your equipment!
