Johnson carb question

Discussion in 'Boats and Motors' started by fishkiller, Jun 7, 2008.

  1. Does anyone know how the primer on the ignition key is linked to the carburetor? Had carb rebuilt last winter now the primer does not seem
to do much & motor stalls at idle.

what year motor? is it a primer or choke? mine ,on my tiller has to be pumped when the motor is turning over. i also put the throttle to a fast idle. mine is a 1999. make sure the bulb is pumped up too.

I have an '89 Johnson GT150. When I push in the key it supposedly injects fuel/oil in a ratio with more fuel than normal. If I remember right, they call it an electric primer.
I have to admit that I haven't read up on this system in order to know how it fully works, I only glanced through that section of my Seloc manual.
