Any secrets out there to keep ice off your eyelets besides not fishing in the cold..... thanks
Chapstick or vaseline does the trick....
I still like the rubbing alcohol in the spray bottle trick.
Thanks! Will try both
Pam, cooking spray
cramerk......The guys have given you some of the better ones.....and there are some commercial ones out there....But as you said ....enter the trial and error faze.....find which works best under your conditions and which also is the best cost effective one for you.........JON Sr.
a heated ice shanty works the best
Just slam your rod tip into the water and shake it around.
Don't put your head in the water.
Pam cooking spray works well
reel magic or olive oil, or if too cheap put your mouth around the guides to thaw the ice off when it becomes impossible to cast!
Thats the ticket.
+1 for Blakemore's Reel Magic. Give each guide 1 or 2 shots of this stuff and then give your spool a good spray down and it will keep ice off the guides as well as keep you line a little more conditioned. I was not a believer in this product, but my cold water break-offs seemed to go away after using this product last year... so I'll stick with it.
