This post I found from another site but it just helps to put a perspective on what a large and varying body of water Lake Erie really is...

The last few days North and NorthEast winds have pushed floating ice chunks into the NorthEast Marina( which is located about 1.8 miles west of the New york/PA border). It's hard to imagine there is still ice out there but there is in the 'offshore' areas. Today's weekend forecast confirms the ice is still there:

I'm going to Presque Isle Bay which is on Lake Erie but I won't be venturing out into the main lake this weekend...atleast I don't have plans too!

This past Monday when I went through Buffalo, there was more ice than water and there was alot of ice going over the falls. I've seen ice as far as you can see off Cleveland in late April before.
