My friend owns 70 acres of private land. He told me we do not need hunting licensees to hunt for deer in his property. This will be my first time hunting ever. I just want to know if what he told me is true or if I need to get a license to hunt there or not. If it helps it's a remote property in wellington

Yes, you will need a hunting license and deer tag to hunt on his property! Since he owns the property he will not need a hunting license. Also wouldn't hurt for him to give you written permission to cya in case of a case.

Yes need a license and signed permission slip to be totally legal...and don't forget about the plug in your shotgun too if you're using one.

The link will prob. say it but you definitely need a license, tag and permission slip. The regs say immediate family only do not-owner, and his children. (Hypothetical but if you were the guys son-in-law, you would need all the above. Your wife-his daughter-would not!) Go figure!
