How many fish go over a flooded dam ?

  1. I'm wondering how many fish I lose when my pond floods over. I have seen a few small ones. I keep a close eye on the situation, but you can only do that for so long.

  2. I think a lot of the answer to your question lies in what type of overflow setup you have. If the pond is built with an overflow pipe then I would say the loss is very minimal if at all. The only spot that the water is being drawn out is through that pipe and many are cover with a grate as well which would stop larger fish. Now if the pond is overflowing over its banks that is a whole other story. This would obviously depend on the extent that it exceeded its banks. But in my years I have never seen a pond that I felt was affected much by overflow. However, I can't think of any that I have been around that have been as severely blown out as I am sure some have been this year.
