When you have some spare time, you can get working on the brown-headed cowbirds, too.
I’ve witnessed the same thing = finches & chipping sparrows trying frantically to feed the much-larger juvenile cowbird. Mom Nature is a tough boss.Last summer I witnessed a Purple Finch being followed around the yard by an oversized juvenile cowbird and aggressively taking every insect/worm the finch could find, no juvenile finches seen anywhere.... THAT made me take notice to how the cowbirds species survive... by laying eggs in other species nests, kicking out eggs of the host bird.
