Hot water locations?

Discussion in 'Catfish Discussion' started by Rooster, Aug 7, 2005.

  1. I’ve been out to the GMR three times in the last week, and I have only caught one small flathead. I’m looking for a new spot to give it another try on Wednesday night, but I don’t know what type of water to target. Last year, it seemed like the flatheads were right in the current. I’m fishing the same areas, and not getting much action. Has the high water temperature and lack of rain drove them to the deeper pools?

I would love to give you good locations but I fear I only have bad news.

It is my opinion that the fish are inactive due to high water temperature and low dissolved oxygen. I can only compare it to you and I experiencing the thin air of the Rocky mountains without aclimating to the elevation. The fish activity is supressed and will continue until there is rain and or cooler water.
