Horseshoe Pond

  1. Has anyone iced Horseshoe Pond? I was looking for any info I could get as far as ice thickness, what kinds of fish you catch through the ice there etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  2. If you mean Horshoe Pond at Presque Isle then the ice is 8-12". You can catch gills mostly, but also pearch, crappie, bass, pike and steelies. It is past Misery bay and they are both good spots to fish, lots of weeds. Just fish right above the weeds and you should catch em!

Oneida, most guys fish Horseshoe pond because its usually the first to freeze and the last to thaw. It' a small weedy bay with a dozen or so floating houses in it.I would not waste my time there when you can find better fishing everywhere else in the bay or off the parking lots..........Mark
