Happy Independence Day, everyone. I'm just back from trying to cast nightcrawler harnesses around the islands up around the Sunbury boat ramp. I was told that was a good saugeye spot but I didn't connect with any of the toothy critters. I was wondering if anybody could help point me in the right direction on Hoover or if I should brave the chaos on Alum Creek. I primarily fish from shore but I use my inflatable raft when trying to get to better water.

Catching Saugeye from shore is tough in this heat. Night might help. I have been catching fish on the ends of points near deep water and near drop offs. Trolling crankbaits. Bonus catfish from the same spots. Trolling crawler harnesses works well too. I would focus on the middle and south pool.

Thanks for the response. I'll try the middle to south pool with my raft this weekend.
