Hey yall.. I have always used cut bluegill, and shad for catfish, and I was fishing in the creek the other day and caught about 100 large creek chubs... I was wondering cut up, how these guys would work.. They have a strong smell to them, and are fatty. So, has anyone used them before and how did you do?? All input would be appreciated.. Thanks!!! Cut creek chubs are outstanding bait. Especially if you allow them to get a little more 'ripe.' If i am using them for channels, i let them die in the water (hope no PETA people are watchin :D), then ice them down so they stay firm. Big live chubs are also good bait for flatheads. Before i was addicted to flatheads (this was 10 years ago) i used chubs almost exclusively for channel cats, until i had a live one on one day and hooked into my first flathead...the rest is history.
