I am taking my son to the Hocking Hills area tomorrow (last minute decision) and we want to go fishing. Looking for somewhere we can rent a small boat, preferably at least one with a trolling motor, but that's not a big concern. The most important thing I'm looking for is the best place to catch some fish! Son is 12, so we'd probably be most interested in catching decent bass, crappie, bluegills, etc. Plenty of gear for just about anything--just not sure where to go. Thought about Lake Logan, but from what I have read online that may not be such a great place to go these days. Ross Lake? Lake Hope?

try lake logan st. park, if you are coming from rt. 33 you go past it on way to hocking hills.

If Your willing to travel about 45 minutes, Burr Oak, Dow Lake, and Lake snowden are down around Athens, or You could go rent a canoe or Kayak from the livery up in Logan and hit the Hocking river

For future reference, Lake Hope is about a half-hour away and has boat rentals, although the fishing is hit-and-miss.

There is also rose lake in the hocking hills state park.
