Just picked up a HDS 9 Live. Cabela’s has them $1000 off till the 29th. All models are deeply discounted till then as the new pro models are rolling out… Garmins are on sale as well.

My question is… what transducer do you use with it? It came with the 3 in 1 bur that looks like a structure scan transducer. It does not look like a high speed transducer.
Can you use the skimmer transducer from an older HDS or is there another one that I need?
Thanks,
Al

While i agree, the 3in1 can do it all you would be much better served using a Airmar transducer for 2d. I run an Airmar tm150, a 3in1 and a Lowrance 3d. My Airmar marks botom at wide open and marks fish at a 30 mph cruise.
Also to answer the op question- yes, you can use the older HST-WSBL Transducer from previous Lowrance units in conjunction with a 7 to 9 pin adapter cable.

The 3 in 1 will run bottom at full speed (40+) and will mark fish (dots) up to 25 mph. You don't need the 2D skimmer, it's in the 3 in 1. If your running 3D you dont have the 2D option, then you need another transducer. I run a Total Scan 3D and a Structure Scan 3 in ! for everything.

Sure it works but an Airmar is far superior to any Lowrance transducer. You pay so much for a graph, you might as well use it to its full capability.

I looked at the Airmar’s yesterday… I love the pic’s. Amazing detail. Crazy expensive for a transducer though.
