Well the grandparents took my little one off my hands for the week so I tried to take advantage. Went to Hoover LOW on Friday after work for about 3 hours and hiked the shoreline. Went through 3 dozen minnows before I was ready to go home. Lot of small crappies but still had 6 over 10 inches for dinner. They were still in pretty shallow but moved back out a bit from the previous week. Headed to Oshay yesterday morning with the canoe. Had a great day. Started off slow as I was fishing too deep. Found em in 3-6 FOW after hitting 8-12 FOW for over an hour. Found one spot where every cast was a fish over 10 inches. This lasted about 45 minutes and had the cooler full, including my very first FO crappie. Took me 3 years and a lot of 12 3/4 in. crappies to finally get one over 13. Most fish were caught on 1/8 chartruse roadrunner. Bite really turned off around 1 PM.
