I was humbled more than once on the GMR throwing some topwater walking baits. The winter bite is here but you can still catch them on topwater. A technique I believe is often overlooked went the weather gets super cold. Weather temps around 50 and the water dropping into the high 40s. Gin clear water the best time in my opinion to throw a topwater is right at sunrise and a few hours after. Enjoy these smallmouths making me look very elementary. I did manage an awesome saugeye on a jerk bait and a few nice smallmouth. The topwater bite is going to disappear probably here in the next week or so. Time to grab the neds and jerk baits.
