Just got this in an email, interesting, hope it's true, nice story if it is...Jim

    Subject: Denzel Washington

Denzel Washington was visiting BAMC (Brook Army Medical Center, in San Antonio,Texas) the other day. This is where soldiers that have been evacuated from Germany come to be hospitalized in the States, especially burn victims. They have buildings there called Fisher Houses. The Fisher House is a hotel that soldiers' families can stay at, for little or no charge, while their soldier is staying in the hospital. BAMC has quite a few of these houses on base, but as you can imagine, they are almost filled to the brim most of the time. While Denzel Washington was visiting BAMC, they gave him a tour of one of the Fisher Houses. He asked how much one of them would cost to build. He got his check book out and wrote a check out for the full amount right there on the spot. The soldiers overseas were amazed to hear this story and want to get the word out to the American public, because it warmed their hearts to hear it. I hope you will spread this story.

Washington has a son who is a Marine in Iraq.

Just when I thought Hollywood was nothing but a bunch of useless, whiney, do nothing, liberal wimps, Denzel does this. OoohRahhh! Good for him.
  5. I don't whether this one is true or not but like someone said. If it is true then props to Denzel. I believe there are some very good people in Hollywood that would this sort of thing. The only problem is they are really outnumbered.
  6. That is really good to hear. I have always appreciated Denzel's acting talent in many movies but I now am an even bigger fan of him.

    You turd. :D

Yea, it's mostly true. He didn't give enough for an entire building but he did give a "sizeable" donation. One of the Hollywierd types that gets it I guess.

Ken, lets go fishing when it gets warm, K?

  8. He is one of many... Too many times we lump together everyone into a tight little package even though its not deserved.. Many movie stars/actors do allot of good work for charities one way or another and do not look for recognition and many do not contribute... But I'd dare say more do then do not ;)
When you have the money most of them do you look for ways to get a tax break and one of the best is contributing to non-profit charities which many do... It may not be in their heart to do good everytime but at least the money goes to worthy causes... :D
  9. I would say that it is not so much the generosity of most that I would question but rather their opinion of where that generosity is directed. I just get tired of so many Hollywood people sticking their name to some off the wall causes or them trying to provide some kind of political leverage because they are a household name. I agree many are very generous. It just does my heart good when I hear a story like Denzel's rather than having someone like a Sean Penn going over to Iraq and putting a black mark on our military and government.
