Another tough day of frog fishin'...a few missed...a few unbuttoned...and one puny catch. Love those topwater strikes though!

I picked up a tip from a fishing show that seems to work really well for topwater hookups. I used to have a real problem getting too excited on the explosion but this guy explains the best hookup method is to use the words "Set, The, Hook". Once you get the explosion on the lure, say "set" and drop your rod tip, say "the" and take up the slack in your line, and then say "hook" and pull back hard to the bury the hook. I have practiced this on topwater frogs and buzzbaits and I rarely miss a hookup now...just a little tip that seems to work.
