After a couple of days of wanting to get out and fish before heading to work, I managed to drag my butt out of bed this morning. But I'm thinking I should have made it out earlier in the week before the Thurs. morning-afternoon rain. The pond was a stained, not as muddy as I thought it would be. I started throwing a bigger spinnerbait, topwater popper, and a Zoom Baby Brush Hog. In the first hour, I managed one hit on the Baby Brush Hog. It was probably a 3.5-4 pound bass, but the line broke before I got him in. Had the drag just a little too tight. Started fishing small lures for the next 40 minutes but only had one other hit on the Brush Hog. This one managed to break me off on the ultralight outfit when he bogged down in the grass. I was glad to finally get back out after awhile of not fishing but the action was just not there. Small compact lures would probably be a good choice today.
