We headed down to Tanners Friday morning to do some cat fishing... Had a really hard time coming across shad for bait. We ended up spending about 3 hours trying to locate bait (up and down Tanners creek, discharge at end of creek, Power plant up river, and 2 creeks above the bridge) Only was able to net 6 medium shad. Not the greatest outlook seeing there were 4 of us fishing - 8 total poles... We made the best of it though, was aable to carve 4 small pieces of bait from each shad. Fished a couple of deep holes, had a few bites but no takers, thought we would try some cover areas in shallower water. Ended up catching 12 channel cats from 2 - 9 pounds. 10 of them came from the same location... Not too bad on 6 shad... go figure! Great day to be out, seen quite a bit of wildlife and a decent number of boats out fishing.
