Fluorocarbon leader to Fireline

Discussion in 'Tackle Talk' started by Saildog, Jun 13, 2005.

  1. What's the best method of attaching a fluorocarbon leader to Fireline? I'm using 10 pound Fireline with a 8 pound pure-fluoro six foot leader and have been joining the two together with a pair of uni-knots. Twice so far I've had the Fluoro leader break at the knot. I really don't want any hardware (swivels, etc.) between the two, as this will make it tough to cast.

My uni-knots look textbook perfect and I tie them wet. Any other ideas? Really like the feel of the Fireline and don't want to give that up.

just switch to a blood knot and use a 12-15' leader.

  3. Thanks...we'll give it a try.
  4. I always glue the knot in addition to simply tying it.
  5. What kind of glue? CyA? I use Zap-A-Gap when tying flies, but have never tried it on line.
