Flatties in a reservoir

Discussion in 'Catfish Discussion' started by lucky1, Apr 26, 2008.

  1. Can anyone give me a few pointers on how to target flatties in a reservoir. I know they are in there, I just need to know things like bait and places to concentrate one.
Would I need to focus on shallows at night?
    Deep water?
    Brush piles or downed trees?
There is a river on either side of the res. and a lot of channels and creeks, would those be better?

Hey lucky, yea I think your on the right track, Depending on the Reservoir, I would use whatever is most predominate bait fish, most likely large shad, or big gills. The flathead areas will also vary greatly by water temp and time of year. One of the best resources Ive found are websites designed by a couple OGFers, Doctor has hookedoncatfish.com.......and Katfish has http://www.stormpages.com/katchaser/index.html These pages are Very informative for catching and locating big flats. Good luck!
