Fishing way off at snowden, rupert, jackson

I just got back from hitting these lakes this week. Perfect weather, even though that front went through, but we were all over and all day and barely got a couple gills to show for. Minnows, wax, red worms, night crawlers, crappie magnets, gulp 1in minnows etc. Fished deep and shallow and this has been the worst trips ever at these lakes. Come back home and read Caesars Creek and surrounding area is on crappie fire. Did the crappie already spawn down there?

We were there April 21st and the water temp was 60.45 degrees. They were catching males in two feet of water just off the bank. So I would have to say yes to that question. You might catch the tail end of it this coming weekend. Pink head with chartreuse grub was our go to. Our best fishing came at night with water light in three feet with minnow. Good luck. That was Ceasar Creek by the way, in the upper section.
Ruffhunter...... the biggest problem in my area is the Amish! I live just over the hill from Rupert/Wellston Wildlife Area! They keep everything they catch and make patties out of it. Very similar to what we know as Salmon patties.

A buddy of mine who fishes Tycoon Lake says he sees the same thing there. The Amish will be out in kayaks and every fish they catch gets tossed into the hull of the kayak for grinding into fish patties.

I went to tycoon a decade ago and it was not worth the drive. I was hearing the same complaints about them back then. Ive noticed at rupert and jackson the past couple years a truck and van with boat trailers, picking up those boaters. I watched a boat load last year at rupert keeping every 6 and 7 inchers. I did see a dead ,white and black hog floating in rupert. I dont keep any crappie unless its 9" and not thin anywhere. But discussing the amish issue has gotten a excessive deer kill thread locked.

Just curious where the crappie spawn is over or hasnt started down there
Since the college took over Snowden it has gone to H***. Now they are gating it and charging to park. Unconscionable!

was just there yesterday. of course the front moved through but rough fishing. On wednesday we fished hargus in the morning. Our first trip there, struggled to get a gill and a few tiny crappie in one spot. Went to hammertown for evening. Nothing biting there either. Worms, minnows, wax worms, plastic different depths, notta.

seen the gates and credit card machine last trip.......
