Several years ago I put my old aluminum boat in at Rocky Fork one really nice late winter day. The lake was smooth as glass, no wind and there was still large section of ice covering at least 20 acres. I took my boat within 20 or 30 feet of it and was marking all kinds of fish at right along that edge but not much outside of that. There were birds picking at the ice too, I suspected dead shad but didn't venture close enough to see for sure. I guessed that dead shad were thawing out of the ice making an easy meal for the fish waiting below. I didn't catch fish and can't even remember if I tried. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this or was my sonar just wacked out by the ice nearby?
