Firewood Racks

  1. Looking for a simple desighn for firewood racks. I have plenty of 2x4 and other wood want a simple desighn.
  2. sportsmans guide has a cheap bracket system using 2x4's(not incl)

  3. Put two equal length(6-8 ft.) 2x4s on edge say 14-18 inches apart. Cut two pieces(spreaders) to go between these(one on each end) about 14-16 inches and screw the longer pieces together using the spreaders. Cut four vertical members from 2x4 about 4 feet long. Cut some 3/8 or 1/2 inch scrap plywood in triangular pieces(braces) about 10-12 inches on each leg. Use these to tighten up the connection between the bottom members and the vertical pieces by screwing the braces to the bottom and vertical 2x's. Screw a piece of blocking(1x3,4 or 2x4) the same width as your rack at the top of the the two end vertical pairs. I've used some of these unpainted(under a shed roof) to stack wood on for years and they are holding up very well.
