[IMG]The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife is sponsoring a Free Family and Youth Sportsman Day featuring hunter education, hunting dog demonstrations, trap shooting, archery, and bow hunting activities for youth and women. This family-friendly event will be held at Big Island Wildlife Area in Marion County on September 25th from 8am to 4pm. A Hunter Education Home Study Completion session will be held in the morning and shooting and field trial events will begin at 12 noon. Registration is required (see event information below for details).

Highlights of this year’s event include a wide variety of hunting dog and field trial demonstrations, displays from several conservation clubs, and food for everyone. Hands-on activities will also be offered, such as trap shooting, basic archery shooting lessons, and advanced bow hunting activities, for youths under the age of 18. New for 2004 will be the addition of shooting and archery events for women.

[IMG]A four-hour Ohio Hunter Education Home Study Completion Course is free of charge and will be given from 8am to 12 noon. All youth must be accompanied by an adult age 18 or older, so bring the entire family and enjoy a day outdoors.
