Fall Trout Stocking

Discussion in 'Southeast Ohio Fishing Reports' started by gpb1111, Feb 22, 2005.

  1. I am in Athens and wanted to fish Dow Lake this weekend. Dow Lake recieves two stockings of trout: one in the Fall and one in the spring (April '05). I was wondering if the trout can still be caught after the ice melts from the fall stocking. If you can, where are the best spots/tactics to fish for them?

  2. I dont fish for trout but I'm sure some will live from stocking to stocking. I know that a lot of the trout are caught after the stocking but I'm sure some will make it. Do you ever do any good bass fishing their? I'm only 1/2 hour away. Never had much luck their.

  3. No, I haven't had much luck for large sized bass. I have caught a few around 2#, but I saw a girl catch a 5#+ bass out of their last year and I've seen many bass in the 5# range. I heard that the record largemouth bass for the state of Ohio was at one time from Dow Lake.
